In the tendering world, appendices are used to house relevant but non-essential information related to your bid.
The appendices are placed at the back of your response document and separated from your responses by a specific table of contents.
APPENDICES NO-NO’S
Do not use the appendices as direct answers to tender questions. For example:
Q: Please describe your Safety Policy
A: Please see appendices for our company safety policy
See how this answer firstly doesn’t actually answer what is asked, and secondly makes the reader go on a bear hunt to obtain the answer themselves? Don’t do this.
APPENDICES YES-YES’S
Only use appendices for additional information & proof that the reader can refer to if they want to. For example:
Q: Please describe your Safety Policy
A: The Tender Relief safety policy is designed to [fill in blank] and includes the following elements [fill in blank]. Our policy is compliant with industry regulation [fill in blank]…etc etc…
Please see appendices for supporting documents:
– Tender Relief Safety Policy, pg. 201
– Tender Relief Safety Management Plan, pg. 220
It’s a bit of work, but it’s the way to do it.
