Tender Aesthetics – Tips & Tricks

How the bid looks is essential to readability. And readability ensures your message is being heard.

Mastering persuasive writing, strategic positioning and value pricing can be hard, if these skills aren’t your strengths you may feel self-conscious and concerned that your tender response won’t stand a chance.

Don’t get me wrong, learning those skills is very important, however, there are some very simple tips and tricks you can implement immediately to improve the readability of your bid and keep it on the ‘worth looking at’ pile, instead of the ‘file in the shredder’ pile.

Let’s explore:

BASIC TIPS

· Always follow tender instructions – seems obvious, but this rule is broken all the time

· Number your pages and include a table of contents

· Respond to all questions – leaving questions blank is a big fat oopsy-daisy

· Follow their formatting – unless they’ve explicitly approved otherwise, stick to their formatting

OTHER TIPS

· Use graphically designed front and rear cover pages

· Combine text, graphs, and images in your responses

· Create an appendix for supporting information

· Use branded headers and footers throughout

Read those dot-points again. Do you really do them all? There are probably one or two you are guilty of omitting.

Now is a good time to get about changing that.
